About
Nestled at 1,200 meters above sea level in the Apaneca-Lamatepec mountain range, Finca Agua Caliente is renowned for producing some of the world’s finest Arabica coffees. The farm thrives in a unique terroir shaped by volcanic soil, mountainous terrain, and a cool, shaded microclimate—conditions ideal for cultivating exceptional coffee.
Agua Caliente grows a distinguished selection of Arabica varieties, including Borbón, Pacas, Sampacho, and their exclusive ABM variety. Under the expert stewardship of J.J. Borja Nathan, each varietal is carefully cultivated and processed using proprietary techniques that highlight the farm’s commitment to quality and innovation.
Shade-grown under native trees and nitrogen-fixing Inga plants, the coffee benefits from enriched soil and a biodiversity-rich ecosystem. This approach not only enhances coffee quality but also supports local fauna, generates oxygen, and contributes to water conservation—positioning the farm as a model of environmental stewardship.
Agua Caliente employs eco-friendly pest and disease management through biological and cultural methods, ensuring long-term sustainability without compromising the ecosystem. At the farm’s own mill, coffee cherries undergo meticulous pulping, fermentation, and washing with pure spring water, followed by sun or mechanical drying. Each batch is rigorously sampled for quality and stored at controlled humidity levels before export.
A distinctive aspect of the farm is its access to thermal waters from volcanic hot springs, symbolizing the harmonious relationship between nature and agriculture that defines Finca Agua Caliente.
